Nepal Motion Picture Association to screen Indian movies except Adipurush

KATHMANDU, June 23: Nepal Motion Picture Association has decided to screen other Indian movies except Adipurush. The Association informed of this by issuing a press release on Friday. 

The Patan High Court issued a short-term order on June 22, 2023, against the screening of Indian and other movies in the name of the opposition. Respecting the order, the union decided to screen the movies across Nepal from Friday. Similarly, the association has also said that it is its natural right to do business independently under the rule of Nepalese law. 

A few days ago, Balen Shah, the mayor of Kathmandu Metropolitan City, decided to ban Hindi movies in the Kathmandu Metropolitan City due to the issue of dialogues in the Hindi movie Adipurush. After Balen's decision, some local bodies including Pokhara Metropolitan Municipality also decided to ban Hindi movies.
