‘ADIPURUSH’ hits halls amid Balen's challenge

KATHMANDU, June 16: The warning that Kathmandu Metropolitan  Mayor Balen Shah gave through social media regarding the words spoken in the Hindi movie ‘ADIPURUSH’ has been violated.

Senior Vice President of Film Association Gopalkaji Kayastha informed Ratopati that since no official letter was received in the meeting of the Film Association held on Friday morning, there was a discussion about screening the film in theaters. According to him, the film was not released anywhere in the morning except in the film hall at KL Tower.

But in addition to the discussions in the association, the hall owners also reasoned that the official letter was not received, and the Hindi films including 'ADIPURUSH' have been started in all the halls in the metropolis since midday. Kayastha also said that the objectionable dialogue mentioned in ‘ADIPURUSH’ was removed and the movie passed the censor.

The Nepal Film Association called an emergency meeting after Mayor Shah announced that he would ban the screening of 'ADIPURUSH'.

On Friday evening, through social media, Balen objected to the words 'Janaki is a daughter of India' in the South Indian film 'ADIPURUSH'. He had announced that no Hindi film will be allowed to run in the Kathmandu Metropolitan City unless the words were corrected not only in Nepal but also in India. He had given a 3-day time for that.
