53 teams participating in BMCA basketball

Kathmandu, May 30: The first Inter School Basketball tournament has been organized by Budhanilkantha Model Community Academy (BMCA) this Wednesday. In a press conference on Tuesday, the Principle announced that 53 teams will participate in the tournament.

27 senior boys teams, 16 senior girls teams and 10 junior boys teams will participate in the tournament. The senior boys team will be divided into eight groups, the senior girls team into four groups and the junior boys teams into two groups and will compete in a league-cum-knockout format.

Winners and runners-up of all three categories will receive Rs 15 thousand and 10 thousand respectively. Cash prizes will be given to the winners of individual categories like the “Most Valuable Player”, “Best 3-pointer” and “Highest Scorer”.

In the press conference, Chairperson of the School Management Committee Laxmidevi Tamang expressed that the tournament was organized as their first attempt at sports and stated the tournament will be continued moving forward.

Former Mayor of Budhanilkantha Municipality and Guthiyar of the Academy Uddhav, Prasad Kharel, expressed confidence that the local government will also help in making the tournament successful. The tournament will be hosted in the court of BMCA, located in Budhanilkantha Municipality-2, Rudrashwor Height.
