Health ministry urges public to remain vigilant as COVID-19 cases rise

KATHMANDU, April 11: The Ministry of Health and Population has issued an appeal to the public to remain vigilant and cautious in light of the increasing number of coronavirus cases. The ministry warns that the number of infections is expected to rise in the coming days, and therefore, it is crucial for everyone to follow public health protocols to prevent the spread of the virus.

Dr. Samir Kumar Adhikari, Joint Spokesperson at the Ministry, emphasized the importance of taking the vaccine to protect against the coronavirus. The virus has been on an upward trend for the past few days, and on Monday alone, 124 people were found to be infected out of 2,566 tests conducted. On the same day, 29 individuals recovered from the virus, bringing the number of active cases to 444.

In the Kathmandu Valley, 21 individuals are currently in isolation, while 10 are receiving treatment in the ICU. The ministry also notes that due to an open border with India, where a new variant of omicron xbb 1.16 has recently spread, the number of infections that had previously decreased to zero in Nepal has now increased.

Therefore, it is crucial for everyone to take the necessary precautions and abide by public health guidelines to prevent the further spread of the virus. It is recommended that everyone gets vaccinated to protect themselves and those around them.
