Vote count begins for Nepal's Vice Presidential Election

KATHMANDU, March 17: Vote counting for Nepal's Vice Presidential election has commenced following the conclusion of voting at the Federal Parliament Building polling center.

The Election Commission reports a total of 829 votes cast, including 311 federal parliament and 518 provincial assembly votes. Results are expected to be announced later today.

The three candidates in the running are Astalaxmi Shakya (Bohara) of the CPN (UML), Mamata Jha of the Janamat Party, and Ram Sahaya Prasad Yadav of the Janata Samajbadi Party Nepal.
