Top Al-Qaeda Leader Killed in Yemen Airstrike

Dubai, March 1: A senior Al-Qaeda figure was killed in a suspected US airstrike in war-torn Yemen, security and local government sources told AFP on Wednesday.
Hamad bin Hamoud al-Tamimi, the top leader of Al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula (AQAP) was killed along with one soldier in the air attack according to a security official. Washington considers AQAP as one of the most dangerous branches of the global jihadist network.
According to officials, the airstrikes targeting a house in the northern province of Marib that Al-Tamimi had recently rented were apparently American.
A Marib government official also confirmed the death.
According to sources, Saudi's Tamimi, also known as Abdel Aziz al-Adnani, headed AQAP's leadership council and acted as a "judge" for the terrorist group.
