LeBron James becomes NBA's all-time leading scorer
Surpassing Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, a new all-time leading scorer emerges
KATHMANDU, Feb. 8: LeBron James of the Los Angeles Lakers has become the NBA's all-time leading scorer. He broke the record of Kareem Abdul-Jabbar's all-time scoring record of 38,387 points, becoming the all-time leading scorer in the history of NBA players.
The 38-year-old James surpassed Abdul-Jabbar’s record of 38,387 points Tuesday night in a game against the Oklahoma City Thunder with a 14-foot jump shot with 10.9 seconds remaining in the third quarter.
The game was paused after James’ record-breaking shot for an on-court ceremony with Abdul-Jabbar and NBA commissioner Adam Silver.
With this, James has made 38,388 points in a total of just 1,410 games, compared to Abdul-Jabbar, who took 1,560 games to record his total.
Michael Jordan has the most points per game in NBA history with 30.1. James is fifth on that list with 27.1, just behind another active player, Kevin Durant with 27.3.
James is currently in the 20th season of his NBA career.
