UML row: Nepal faction not to furnish clarifications
KATHMANDU, July 20: Lawmakers close to the Madhav Nepal faction of the CPN-UML have decided not to furnish any clarification as asked by the Central Committee meeting on Monday.
A CC meeting held on Monday decided to ask the 22 lawmakers of the party, who voted for Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba during a trust vote on Sunday, to submit clarifications within 24 hours.
Following the decision of CC, the 22 lawmakers including senior leader Madhav Kumar Nepal held a meeting on Monday evening. According to Metmani Chaudhary, a lawmaker close to the faction, they concluded that it is not necessary to respond to the party’s direction to furnish clarifications.
Chaudhary was of the opinion that the UML even does not exist as ‘it has not yet been resurrected as it was on May 16, 2018’. “When there is no party, there is no meaning in seeking clarifications by a mere faction.”
