Afghan fighting leaves 35 Taliban fighters dead in northern Kunduz province
KUNDUZ, Afghanistan (Xinhua)- Up to 35 Taliban fighters were killed and 27 others injuried as the clash between Afghan government forces and Taliban entered its third day on Monday in Imam Sahib district of the northern Kunduz province, the governor for Imam Sahib district Mahboubullah Sayedi said.
Government forces launched cleanup operations in Imam Sahib district on Saturday and so far the government troops killed 35 militants and liberated several villages from the Taliban control, the official asserted.
Taliban militants who are in control of parts of the troubled Kunduz province haven't commented.
