KATHMANDU, Jan 18: As many as 138 Nepali lost their lives in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in 2021 alone. 

According to the data released by the Nepalese Embassy in Abu Dhabi, 138 Nepali nationals died due to various reasons until December 31, last year. 

Eighteen of them succumbed to COVID-19 infection while 65 others had a natural death. 

The data reveals that 25 Nepalis died in accidents and 28 others committed suicide during the period of 12 months. 

Two more Nepalis were murdered in 2021, according to the embassy. 

Meanwhile, at least 12 Nepalis died in the first 14 days of 2022, according to the officials.
