Concern over underpayment to nurses

Kathmandu–In a meeting of the National Assembly today, lawmaker Udaya Sharma Poudel drew the attention of the government, citing that nurses in the country are not getting a pay as fixed by the government.

She informed the session that nurses' labour had been devalued as they were underpaid. Khil Kumar Bishwakarma briefed the House that travel allowance guaranteed for new mothers had not been implemented effectively in the current fiscal and drew the government's attention towards that end.

Another member Anita Devkota demanded the revelation of circumstances surrounding the death of the district leader of the Communist Party of Nepal (Biplav-led group) in the recent police encounter said to have taken place in Sarlahi.

Indu Kadariya expressed her concerns over the threats given by Indian security personnel during the construction of a postal highway in Kanchanpur district and drew the government's attention to the matter while Kamala Kumari Oli raised the issue of a culture of syndicate still existing inpublic transport sector.

She urged the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure and Transport Ministry to look into the issue.
