MPs to monitor agriculture pocket zones

Surkhet–Karnali State Minister for Land Management, Agriculture and Cooperatives Bimala KC has said that the agriculture pocket zones will be operated under the direct observation of the members of parliament.

Minister KC, who reached Dailekh in course of a feasibility study for animal husbandry and agriculture pocket zone, said that that the agriculture pocket zone would be implemented through the new fiscal year budget, and would be operation through direct monitoring of MPs.

"The State government has taken the policy to implement 'one MP, one agriculture pocket zone' programme," Minister KC said. On the occasion, Vice-chair of the State Planning Commission Dr Punya Prasad Regmi said the government has started study and monitoring in the farmers' filed in order to implement the programmes effectively.

The local governments as well as the farmers should also work to develop Karnali into an organic State. Chairperson of Narayan municipality-3 Chandra Prasad Upadhyaya shared the plight of the Dalit communities, who are landless and forced to go to neighbouring India for labour.

The monitoring team comprised Karnali State Assembly members Padma Khadka, Under Secretary at the Ministry of Land Management, Agriculture and Cooperatives Raju KC, Veterinarian Mohan Giri among others.
