This would be Modi's first multilateral engagement after being re-elected as prime minister for the second term last month.

This would also be the second occasion when India will be attending SCO summit as a full-fledged member. Last year Modi attended the SCO summit held in China.

"Strengthening India's presence on the global stage. For the first multilateral engagement post re-election, PM Narendra Modi embarks on a two-day visit to attend Shanghai Cooperation Organisation Council of Heads of State meeting on June 13-14 in Bishkek, Kyrgyz Republic," tweeted the official spokesman of External Affairs Ministry Raveesh Kumar.
