Two people dead in U.S. Long Island plane crash

NEW YORK–Two people were killed after a small plane crashed in Long Island, New York, on Saturday morning, said local police.

The Federal Aviation Authority said the Beechcraft A36 plane took off at about 9 a.m. from MacArthur Airport and crashed in Southold at around 9:15 a.m., according to local media Newsday.

Southold police confirmed that two people, a man and a woman, onboard were dead, and a dog survived the accident. Police said engine trouble appears to be involved in the crash. Further investigation is under way.
