Surkhet–The District Police Office, Surkhet on Thursday arrested an accussed of Surkhet on the run after 20 years.
The arrested is Harkha Bahadur Darlami of Lekbesi municipality-9, Sanjhchaur, Surkhet, confirmed Pradeep Bahadur Chhetri, Spokesperson and Deputy Superintendant of Police (DSP) of District Police Office, Surkhet.
Spokesperson Chhetri said Darlami was involved in bruising his villager Chandra Bahadur Rai in Kartik 2056 BS.
He had physically attacked Rai in a forest based in Sanjhchaur for not providing him the money demanded.
Rai who remained unconscious after brutal attack was taken to Surkhet for treatment with the help of police and locals.
Darlami was on the run after Rai breathed his last in course of the treatment.
Dhan Bahadur Rai Magar, father of the deceased, had lodged an application demanding the arrest of and legal action against Darlami.
Acting on the application, police arrested Darlami from his home on last May 23.
Darlami was presented before the District Court Surkhet for further investigation.
