Biplav-led group's cadre succumbs to bullet injuries

Bhojpur–A cadre of the Netra Bikram Chand 'Biplav'-led group who sustained injuries in a clash with police has died in course of treatment.

He is 32-year-old Tirtha Raj Ghimire of Kudakkaule, Khadananda municipality-2 of the Bhojpur district. Ghimire was injured by bullet fired by police during an encounter between police and the Biplav-led group's cadres at Dhodre forest, Timma at Temke Maiyung rural municipality-1 on Tuesday.

Ghimire died in course of treatment at 3.30 am today at the BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences in Dharan, Chief District Officer, Nurahari Khatiwada, said.

CDO Khatiwada said there was some delay in taking Ghimire to the hospital as the road was blocked after a boulder fell down on the road at Bhaisipankha in the district.

It took five hours for the police to bring his to the road from the site of the clash and then the road was blocked by the boulder at Bhainsipankha.

According to CDO, they had called an ambulance from Chyangre and Ghimire might have died due to excessive bleeding as it took time to get him to the hospital.

It is said some weapons were also confiscated from Ghimire's belongings. The Dhodre forest is on the border between Chhinamakhu and Kepalasgadhi rural municipality of Khotang.

According to police, Biplav-led group's cadres opened fire at police and Ghimire was hit by bullet fired in retaliation by police. A group of armed persons in their dozens ran away from there through the forest after that, police said. ---
