Call to make literacy campaign successful

Janakpurdham–Minister for Education, Science and Technology Girirajmani Pokharel has said that the federation, province and local level representatives should work together to make the enrollment and literacy campaign successful.

Speaking at a province-level interaction on 'Literate Nepal year 2076 and school enrollment campaign' here on Saturday, he said a policy has been adopted whereby the local level would carry out a household survey to bring out the real facts about the state of literacy. This was done to discourage previous practices of making people literate only in paper.
Province no. 2 Social Development Minister Nawal Kishore Shah said the province lacks staff, teachers and disproportionate state of school and students, as the federal government continues to hold all the powers related to education management.

Many local level people's representatives on the occasion expressed the view that the local level had its hands tied despite the claim of powers from Singha Durbar reaching the local level.

According to information shared at the programme, the literacy rate of province no. 2 is 49.54 per cent with 38.88 per cent of women.
