A-Division League Football: Army defeats Saraswoti

Kathmandu–The departmental team, Tribhuvan Army Club (TRC), trounced Saraswoti Youth Club, four goals to nil, in a match played today under the Martyrs Memorial A-Division League Football Championship. 


This is the sixth victory for the Army. The match was held at ANFA’s Technical Centre ground at Satdobato, Llaitpur. 
The Army has 21 points with this win and after playing 11 matches. It is in the fourth position in the league’s points table. 


Nawayug Shrestha scored one goal and captain Bharat Khawas two goals for the Army. Nawayug scored in the 7th minute of the game converting a pass from Deepak Gurung from six yards ahead of the goal post. Captain Bharat Khawas scored a goal through a penalty kick in the 30th minute. Saraswoti was reduced to 10 players from the 28th minute as Suman Lama was given a red card for tripping Army’s Khawas. 


The Army scored two more goals in the second half of the game. Bharat Khawas scored the third goal for the Army and his personal second goal in the 61st minute. He struck a rebound ball from the Saraswoti’s goalkeeper and sent it right through the goal post. 


The fourth goal for the Army came as a suicide goal by Saraswoti’s foreign player Olusola Ebrahim. Army’s captain Bharat Khawas was declared the ‘man of the match’. 


Saraswoti, which has played 11 matches, has 10 points and is placed in the 10th spot in the points chart.
