Manang Marshyangdi Club to represent Nepal in AFC Cup Football

Kathmandu– The title-holder of the ongoing A-Division League Football Championship, Manang Marshyangdi Club, is to represent Nepal in the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Cup Football tournament. 


Manang Marshyangdi will play from Nepal in the AFC Cup football tournament as per the provision of the team winning the A-Division League participating in the AFC tournament, All Nepal Football Association (ANFA) has stated. ANFA is the football governing body in the country. 


The Three Star Club had participated on behalf Nepal in the AFC Cup Football tournament before this. 
Manang Marshyangdi Club had clinched the Martyrs Memorial A-Division League Football Championship, defeating Sankata Club, three goals to one, on Thursday. Winning the title ahead of two games remaining under the League, Manang Marshyangdi has clinched the title for the record eighth time. 


Manang Marshyangdi is in Group E of the AFC Cup Football Championship. AFC had made public the draw of the groups of the AFC Cup Football Championship last month. Together with Nepal, India, Bangladesh and one team coming through play-off round are placed in Group E of the AFC Cup Football tournament. 


Minerva Punjab will play from India while Bangladesh will be represented by Dhaka Abahani in the AFC Cup tourney. 
The group matches under AFC Cup Football Championship will take place in the United Arab Emirates in April 2019.

The highest division league champion teams from 24 countries of Asia will play in the AFC Cup Football Championship.
