EPL cricket: Bhairahawa reaches playoff stage

Kathmandu–Bhairahawa Gladiators has become the first team to reach to the playoff stage in the ongoing third edition of the Everest Premier League (EPL) T-20 Cricket Tournament. 


Bhairahawa Gladiators defeated Biratnagar Warriors by four wickets in the first match played at the Tribhuvan University (TU) ground today, making their place in the playoff. This is the third straight win for Bhairahawa. 


Bhairahawa had achieved the mediocre 92-run target put before them by Biratnagar under the captaincy of Paras Khadka in 19 overs, with four balls to spare and at the loss of six wickets. 


Ryan Ten Doskate made 20 runs for Bhairahawa. Captain Sharad Bheswakar hit 16 runs, Rabi Inder Singh 12 runs, Pradeep Airee 10 runs and Rohit Poudel was not-out at seven runs. 


Biratnagar’s Van Der Merbi took two wickets. Biratnagar who were sent to bat first after losing the toss made only 91 runs in 18.4 overs losing all their wickets. Van Der Merbi collected 25 runs, Karan KC 18 runs, Sumit Maharjan 15 runs and Hari Bahadur Chauhan was not-oiu for 13 runs. 


Mohammad Navid took four wickets while Krishna Karki and Avinash Bohra two wickets each for Bhairahawa. 
With this win, Bhairahawa has six points from three games. Bhairahawa is to play against Lalitpur and Kathmandu.

Before this, Bhairahawa had defeated Pokhara Rhinos in the first match and Chitwan Tigers in the second match. 
Biratnagar, which has four points from two matches it has played, is in the third place. It had defeated Lalitpur in the first match and Pokhara in the second one. 


Kathmandu Kings XI and Lalitpur Patriots are meeting in the second match being held at the same ground this afternoon.
