Finance Minister urges journalists to write on governance, development issues

Kathmandu –Finance Minister Dr Yuba Raj Khatiwada has said the journalists' pen should flow the causes of good governance and development. 


Inaugurating the fourth convention of Nepal Economic Journalists' Association (NEJA) amidst a ceremony here today, the Finance Minster called on journalists to write in favour of good governance and development issues. 

 


He went on to say that journalists were expected to be critical of government activities instead of copying them as it is. He was of the view that journalists held the responsibility for showing if there were any weaknesses of the government. 
He utilised the moment to urge journalists to give dedication to their profession, adding that responsible press would help strengthen the political system. 


He lauded the role of Nepali media in achieving economic, social and political changes in the nation. 
Auditor General Tankamani Sharma advised journalists to always disseminate fact-based news by giving priority to the economic development issues. 


President of Confederation of Nepalese Industries Haribhakta Sharma asserted that economic journalists should pour ink in favour of development agenda. 


Federation of Nepali Journalists (FNJ) general secretary Ramesh Bista was of the opinion of promoting responsible journalism. The convention will elect a new leadership.
