Police work to repair Barjugad-Martadi road

Bajura– The police personnel deployed from the District Police Office, Bajura have started to carry out the maintenance works of Barjugad-Martadi road, which witnessed a heavy damage due to this year’s monsoon flood and landslides. Road sections around Balde, Dawari, Haranekhola, Tipada, Olena, Paninaula, Thuwakadh and Powerhouse area and the side of district prison house was heavily damaged in the landslides. The passengers are obliged to travel by risking their life along this five kms road due to its poor quality after the monsoon flooding.

The police personnel themselves have started to work in the road repairing, as the vehicles to and from the district headquarters in Martadi have been facing hardships after the contractor company paid very less heed to maintain it till the first five months of the current fiscal year.

Deputy Superintendent of Police Uddhab Singh Bhat said that the police personnel are working to clear the debris caused by the landslides as the chance of road mishap was high due to poor quality of the road.

PS Construction Company that was awarded the construction bid has not complied with its responsibility to repair the road up to Martadi. However, In-charge of the construction company Prem Thapa claimed that the commitment would be fulfilled within two weeks by using an excavator and five tippers.
