Chhoser-Korala road upgraded

Mustang –The Chhoser-Korala road section linking the Jomsom in Mustang district to Korala, the transit point on the Nepal-China border in Mustang has been upgraded. 


The digging of the track in Chhoser which lies along the 110-kilometres Beni-Jomsom-Korala road had been begun in 2014 and now during the upgradation, the road section has witnessed expansion of its breadth by 11 meters in breadth and construction of gabion walls and machinery walls among others on the road, According to Project engineer Jagat Prajapati. 


Engineer Prajapati shared that the Chhoser-Korala road has been made into gravel. 
The Kaligandaki Corridor Beni-Jomsom-Korala Road Project conducted the upgradation of the 16-kilometres of road section stretching from Chhoser in Lomanthang Rural Municiplaity-1 to Pillar No 24 in Korala transit point. 


The Jomsom-Korala Road Project is being undertaking in seven packages while the last package of work towards the Korala transit point has been over. 


Dewa-Rautahat-Apex JV had been awarded contract for the upgradation of the Road Section which was estimated to cost Rs 480 million. 


The road section lies at the altitude of 4,600 metres above the sea level. Contractor Company's representative Sakal Bahadur Lalchan said that given the geographical terrain and the unfavorable weather, their performance would have suffered plenty of hitches but they adequately mobilized workers and equipments to achieve the target of timely completion. 


The same Company which has bagged the contract for the upgradation and expansion of the Jomsom airport has targeted to complete it on time.
