Data journalism training concludes

Kathmandu –A three-day training on data journalism concluded in the headquarters of Province-3, Hetauda, on Wednesday. 


The residential training, organized by Nepal In Data Campaign of Bikas Udhyami in collaboration with Society of Economic Journalists Nepal and Province-3 Ministry of Economic Affairs and Planning, was imparted to 20 working journalists of Province 2 and 3, shared Chief Executive Officer of Bikas Udhyami, Santosh Gartoula. 


During three days, the journalists were trained to understand fundamentals of data and use data as evidence in journalism practices. 


The objective of the training was to encourage journalists to use data in news and views on different themes of development including health, education, economic system, public finance management and poverty, stated a press release by Bikas Udhyami. 


“We would continue to collaborate with federal and province governments to impart such training which would be helpful in disseminating information to the general public in an effective and clear way”, he said, adding that the delicate integration between data and journalism could help people well-informed and encourage them to engage in development affairs. 


Nepal in Data is the campaign of Bikas Udhyami which has been massively working on data literacy. 
Gartoula along with statistician nani Shakya and journalist Shreedhar Khanal had imparted training to the journalists from different national and local dailies. ---
