Gaighat, Udayapur – Speaker of the Federal Parliament, Krishna Bahadur Mahara has termed Nepal’s federalism as purely different from other countries’ federalism and based on the country’s own context.

Addressing the interaction programme titled ‘Constitution, Implementation of Federalism and Interrelations’ organized in Gaighat of Udayapur district today, he said Nepal’s federalism was unique also because ‘ours is a multi-ethnic, multi-lingual and multi-religious country’.

Speaker Mahara stated that the people’s representatives should acknowledge our country’s unique type of federalism considering the geography, culture and ethnic composition, rather than talk about and demand rights like in other countries’ federalism.

He urged the people’s representatives present at the programme to internalize that whatever rights the constitution has specified for them to be their rights, whenever all the three levels of the state seek and talk about their rights.
Chairman of the Administrative Court Kashi Raj Dahal and advocate Ram Bahadur Thapa had presented working papers in the programme.

People’s representatives including the chiefs and deputy chiefs of rural municipalities and the mayors and deputy mayors of municipalities from all eight local levels in the district participated in the programme organized by the District Coordination Committee (DCC), Udyapur, DCC Udayapur chair Khadga Pariyar said.
