Jakhera Lake draws growing attention of tourists

Dang – The Jakhera Lake based in Lamahi Municipality-5 of Dang – a district lying in the lap of Chure Mountain is gradually gaining popularity as a destination for tourists. 


The mind-blowing scenic beauty of Jakhara Lake which is at the bottom of Chure mountain has attracted attention of domestic and foreign tourists. Besides, the green forest along the east-west border has also added beauty to the touristic value of the lake. 


Daily around 200 to 300 domestic and foreign tourists are turning up here to observe the lake and enjoy jungle safari as well as for the purpose of picnic, shared Om Bhagat Chaudhary, an employee of Jakhera Lake Conservation Committee. 


The lake stretched over 5.5 bighas of land is surrounded by forest. It is 6-feet deep. There is a temple of Lord Ganesh to its north and Siddeswor Mahadev Temple to the east of the lake. 


The main attractions of the lake are picnic spots, water riding, natural trekking and observation of birds and other animals. Tourists coming here are very much excited to enjoy boating in the lake. “Tourists have to wait long for boat riding with the availability of only one boat”, Chaudhary said. 


Each individual has to pay Rs 50 for boat riding while s/he needs to pay Rs 20 to reach the temple for worships. (Photo Available)
