Vocational education needed for prosperity, Minister Pokharel

Bardibas – Minister for Education, Science and Technology Girirajmani Pokharel has said that vocational education was inevitable for the campaign of nation’s economic prosperity. 


Addressing an interaction programme organized by Natural Resource Management College in Bardibas-6, Mahottari on Saturday, Pokharel added that now skills-based and vocational education should be promoted for the country’s sustainable development and promotion of the trained human resources. For this, the government has prepared 25-year educational strategic plan, he added. 


According to Minister Pokharel, the subjects dealing with medicinal herbs, Ayurveda, Yoga, naturopathy and some others would also be included in the skills-based and vocational education promotion and development programme from secondary to higher level of education. 


Minister Pokharel observed that politicization in the community schools has made their quality poor. “Our community schools have become the sites for doing politics to the political parties and teachers. The teachers must quit the psychology to safeguard their jobs by keeping themselves affiliated to one or the other political parties.” Minister Pokharel warned. 


During the event, Vice-Chancellor of Rajarshi Janak University Bharat Jha, province assembly member Sharada Thapa and others expressed their commitments to support the newly-established college. 


The college affiliated to Agriculture and Forestry University (AFU), Chitwan is going to commence bachelor’s level in crops science. The college has issued a public notice for form registration from November 11 to December 3 and the entrance exam would be held on December 15, Dean of the AFU Jaya Prakash Dutta said. A total of 54 students would be enrolled in the B.Sc (Crop Science) this year in the college.
