Security to be tightened in capital during festivals

Kathmandu – In view of festivals--Tihar, Nepal Sambat and Chhath, security will be tightened across the market in the Kathmandu Valley, said the police. The security measures aim to control criminal and unwanted activities during festivals, said Deputy Inspector General of Police Shailesh Thapa Chheri at a programme with the theme of 'community's cooperation in reducing crime' organised jointly by the Community Police Service Centre, Gongabu and the Metropolitan Police Circle (MPC), Maharajgunj. 


"Relations between the police and people will be strengthened in a bid to control crime in the society. We also commit to taking action against the police compromising their professional discipline and integrity," he said. Likewise, Deputy Superintendent of Police Phanindra Prasain, also Chief of the MPC, Maharajgunj, stressed cooperation between the police and the society in controlling crime. 


Chairperson of the Kathmandu Metropolitan City-26 Khayam Raj Tiwari underscored the need for all to join hands in tackling criminal activities.
