'Crime on journalism is crime against state and democracy'

Ghorahi, Dang – Chief Minister of Province no 5, Shankar Pokhrel, has said that only the court has right to take action against the guilty. 

At a programme 'End of Impunity for Safe Journalism' organsied by Freedom Forum at Ghorahi today, Chief Minister Pokhrel said that no individual or institution except the law court has right to indict on criminal charges. 

Saying journalism should not be misused as it is the medium of taking the people's voices to the government, he said journalists should not give importance to dispute in the name of democracy. 

The Chief Minister further said that crime on journalism was the crime against the state and democracy. 

Similarly, Vice-President of the Federation of Nepali Journalists, Bipul Pokhrel, shared the information that a total of 36 journalists were killed and four kidnapped and the state is still unable to make the victims realize about the justice after carrying out truth and reality of the incidents.
