Fire crackers confiscated

Inaruwa – Smuggling of fire crackers and other firework items from Indian markets into Itahari has started with the arrival of the festivals. 


Police on Monday confiscated a large quantity of such materials from Sisuwa Dharmapur of Harinagar rural municipality in Sunsari district. 


Six bundles of the Nagin brand fire crackers and 100 packets of other fireworks items were seized by police from that place . Superintendent of Police Rajan Adhikari said a person who was smuggling in the fireworks items from the Indian market across the border abandoned the materials and fled when he saw the police. 


Meanwhile, police have arrested a person from Devangunj rural municipality-7, Sunsari district on the charge of banking fraud. The arrestee is Mithiles Kumar Barma who currently resides in Nagarjun municipality-4, Kathmandu. 


Police paraded him before the press on Monday after his arrest. Barma was arrested from Nagarjun municipality and brought here for action. He had paid one Naresh Kumar Saha of Biratnagar Sub-metropolitan City-4 one million 385 thousand rupees through bank cheque. But the cheque given by Barma bounced and he was arrested for this fraud, police stated.
