Women football team returns home with first runner-up title

Kathmandu – A Nepali women football team which achieved the first runner-up status in the SAFF U-18 Women Championship returned home today. 

All Nepal Football Association (ANFA) chair Karma Chhiring Sherpa and other officials were at Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) to welcome the team. The team finished the second in the October 7 final match held between Nepal and Bangladesh. The match ended in 1-0. 

It defeated India in the semi-final by 3-1 in the penalty shootout to secure its place in the final. The ANFA has already announced Rs 500,000 each to the squad member as reward.
