Nawalparasi –Ramgram municipality based in west Nawalparasi district has initiated issuing decisions on the cases registered at its judicial committee by setting up a mediation bench.
The municipality office established the bench at the office to deliver judicial service to the right-holders on the cases through mediation system.
According to Judicial Committee Coordinator and Deputy Mayor Rambha Kunwar, the mediation bench was put in place to increase marginalized community’s access to justice.
The municipality also has arranged a system of hearing involving petitioner and defendant within the new mechanism realizing that settling all the disputes and cases through mediation was not possible.
As many as 100 applications have been so far registered at the judicial committee of Ramgram Municipality once the committee was brought into effect. ---
