Court convicts FSU President on rape charge

Parbat – The District Court, Parbat, has ordered 10 years in jail to President of Free Student’s Union of Kushma-based Gupteshwork Multiple Campus Shishir Chhetri on charge of raping a girl. The single bench of District Judge Surya Bahadur Thapa announced the verdict convicting Cheetri, 23, on charge of rape. Chhetri and other youths were charged of raping a 16-year-old girl who was returning home from Baglung after attending the Chaite Dashain fair some 18 months ago.

Chhetri, a permanent resident of Kushma Municipality-1, was elected the FSU Chair from the Nepal Student’s Union (NSU). Chhetri was sentenced five years behind the bars for his crime against civil code and equal term in jail on the charge of the organized crime. 


Likewise, of the two minor offenders arrested along with Chhetri would be kept in correctional centre for five years and one year each. However, the court has given a clean chit to hotelier Sher Bahadur Hamal.
