PM Oli, Costa Rica President hold bilateral talks on mutual cooperation on peace, climate change

San Jose –KP Sharma Oli and President of Costa Rica Carlos Alvarado Quesada exchanged views on mutual cooperation in the areas of international peace, agriculture and climate change. 


Prime Minister Oli is presently on a Costa Rica visit. In his address to a joint press meet held after the bilateral talks, the Prime Minister said he witnessed a significant progress achieved by Costa Rica in the areas of economy, environment protection and human rights and this was the most appropriate time to visit the country. 


During his visit to the Central American country, he got an opportunity to visit the Pirris Hydropower Plant and wind energy mechanism and to participate in the peace and socio-economic issues while accepting the honorary doctorate degree of the University for Peace. The two discussed about expansion of bilateral relations and the areas of cooperation which included the issues of poverty reduction, sustainable development, environment protection, clean energy and so on. 


The two leaders also discussed about the issues relating to priorities of Nepal; its goal for a prosperous Nepal, happy Nepali; women empowerment, democracy, good governance and disarmament. 


The First Vice-President and Foreign Affairs Minister of Costa Rica, Epsy Campbell Barr, welcomed Prime Minister Oli at Museum of Costa Rican's Art. PM Oli reached there to meet President Quesada. The Museum is located at La Sabana Park of old airport at San Jose. 


All most all arts of Costa Rica have been put on display in the Museum and there are around 560 pieces of contemporary arts from the world. 


Meanwhile, President of Costa Rica, Quesada, and first lady, hosted a banquet in honour of Prime Minister Oli, his spouse Radhika Shakya and the Nepali delegation. 


Accompanying PM Oli were his spouse Radhika Shakya, Chief Political Advisor to PM Oli, Bishnu Prasad Rimal, Secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Shanker Das Bairagi, Chief of Protocol Deepak Adhikari and senior-officials of the government of Nepal.
