Cambodian PM says to attend UN General Assembly next week

PHNOM PENH – Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Techo Hun Sen said Wednesday that he will travel to New York for the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) next week.

"On Sept. 27, I will fly to New York for the UNGA. This year, Cambodia is also the vice president of the UNGA," he said in a speech during a get-together with more than 27,000 garment factory workers in western Kampong Speu province.

The Cambodian prime minister said he will deliver a speech at the UNGA, hold a bilateral meeting with UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres, and separately meet with prime ministers of two countries on Sept. 28.
Besides, he will meet with Cambodian citizens living in the United States.

According to the prime minister, he is also scheduled to fly to Japan on Oct. 6 and then directly travel to Indonesia on Oct. 10 for an international conference.

He added that he will also head to Brussels, Belgium on Oct. 17 for the Asia-Europe Meeting and then make an official visit to Turkey.

Hun Sen, 67, was re-appointed earlier this month as the prime minister of Cambodia for another five years after his ruling Cambodian People's Party won all 125 parliamentary seats in a general election on July 29. RSS
