Pokhara Sports Award conferred on outstanding athletes

Pokhara - The Nepal Sports Journalists Forum, Kaski on Saturday conferred the sports award to individuals, athletes and organizations for making exemplary contributions in the sports sector.

Former footballer and athlete, Khadga Bahadur Ranabhat, was honoured with the Life Time Achievement Award under the Pokhara Sports Award.

Pokhara – Lekhnath Metropolitan City Mayor, Man Bahadur GC, conferred the award on Ranabhat.

In the best male and female athletes' category, tennis player Kumar Adhikari and volleyball player Aruna Shahi were feted respectively. They received Rs 25,000 in cash prize along with one Samsung mobile phone each.

In the best coach of the year, Taekwondo's Sun Bahadur Lama was honoured. Likewise, in the best new emerging talent category, volleyball player Mamata Dagaura received the award.

In the best sport organization's category, Kaski's District Long Tennis Association was conferred the honour. They received Rs 10,000 each in cash prize, trophies and appreciation letters.

Sports Journalists Forum, Kaski President Dipendra Shrestha, District Sports Development Committee Chairman, Yam Gurung, and singer Pramod Kharel handed out the awards.
