Karnali Province CM announces province development as tourist destination

Surkhet – Chief Minister of Karnali Province Mahendra Bahadur Shahi has announced to develop Karnali as the province attracting the world. 


At an interaction organised by the Nepal Tourism Journalist Association (NTJA), Karnali Province, here today, Chief Minister Shahi said initiatives have been taken with the aim to develop Nepal as the a world's tourism destination and Karnali as a domestic tourist attraction site. 


"We have many historical, religious, cultural and natural heritages. They are in the shadow for want of publicity."


Saying tourism is the strong basis for economy, the Chief Minister said that Karnali could be developed as a hydro and agriculture tourism area, adding that investment and willpower were necessary for the same. 
Central Chairperson of the NTJA, Dhaniram Sharma (Rhitubichar) said that the Association has been supporting the government's tourism policy. 


Harihar Neupane, who is carrying out a research into Karnali's tourism, presented a working paper on Karnali's current tourism condition, tourism sites, problems, policy adopted by the provincial government, and further development programmes. 


Similarly, Chairperson of Nepal Tourism Journalist Association, Karnali Province, Ashok Kumar Singh said that federal government would play a partner in the provincial government for the development of tourism. 


The participants suggested to the journalist association playing a role in promoting entertainment tourism, and agriculture of the province, sports, health, water resources and adventure sports. They also suggested that the provincial government should work to develop infrastructure development.
