Govt attacked from all quarters for its reforms-oriented activities: CM Pokharel

Butwal –CPN Standing Committee member and Chief Minister of Province no 5, Shankar Pokharel, has claimed that the incumbent government was attacked from all quarters as it spearheaded works aimed at societal reforms and changes.

At the function organized in Rupendehi Constituency no 2 in Butwal today on the 40th Memorial Day of founding general secretary of CPN, Pushpalal Shrestha, Chief Minister Pokharel argued that it was inappropriate for the major opposition party, Nepali Congress (NC), to take to streets against the incumbent government's activities.

The incumbent government has taken measures to end social anomalies and aberrations such as ending syndicate in transportation sector, taking action against duty-shrieking contractors, management of the aid received from the donor agencies among others, about which according to Pokharel, the NC was making hue and cry.

According to Pokharel, it was the NC that encouraged private sector's investment in the education and health sector and thus it was inappropriate for the NC to launch agitation.

Stating that NC was on the prowl to make this government a failure, he blamed that protesting Dr Govinda KC's demand not to allow establishment of any medical college in Kathmandu was hinted towards the establishment of the proposed Manmohan Medical College.

The Chief Minister argued that the health and education sectors should be not be made profit-making enterprises in order to ensure reforms in these sectors.

Furthermore, CM Pokharel urged the party cadres to be involved in the government's campaign for development and prosperity. (photo available)
