Drinking water project worth Rs 10 million completes

Ratnanagar, Chitwan –A drinking water project has been constructed at the cost of Rs 10 million at Gadhuwa of Kalika Municipality of eastern Chitwan. 


The project got completed with the financial and technical assistance from the Pokhara-based Gorkha Welfare Trust, bringing cheers among the locals. The Trust had financially and technically the project under its Drinking Water and Sanitation Programme. 


The ownership of the project which took nine months to complete was handed over to the community Thursday, as stated by Gadhuwa Drinking Water and Sanitation Consumers' Committee secretary Chet Kumar Sunar. 


The project based on a deep water boring system has an overhead reserve tank with the capacity of storing 30 cubic meters of water. A total of 158 houses are to be benefited by the project at present. Locals also contributed Rs 1.5 million for the cause of projectconstruction, as stated by Committee chair Leela Bahadur KC. 


A drinking water project each at Lankaline and Suryapurm, parts of the Municipality, is to be constructed in near future.---
