RJPN draws government's attention

Kathmandu –The Rastriya Janata Party Nepal (RJPN) has drawn the attention of the government to address the justified demands put forth by Dr Govinda KC and save his life.

Senior orthopedic neurosurgeon Dr KC is on a hunger strike in Jumla calling for reform in medical education sector in the country. He is protesting some provisions of a supplementary bill that the government has been pushing in the parliament to replace a draft bill in this connection.

Dr KC wants the government to get the draft bill on reforms in medical education passed by parliament without any changes in it. It is the 20th day of Dr KC's hunger strike.

In a press release he issued on Wednesday, Coordinator of the RJPN presidium Mahantha Thakur urged the government to be serious regarding saving the life of Dr KC who has been staging a fast onto death for long calling for reforms in the medical sector.

"It is not necessary that one should agree to all the views held by Dr KC but it is the primary responsibility of the government to protect the right of the people to live and respect the culture of peaceful protest," reads the press release.
