Bhairavi Temple at landslide risk

Trishuli, Nuwakot – The famous Bhairavi Temple and settlements around it are at risk of landslide following incessant rainfall. 


The risk is posed by landslide that occurred last night close to the temple and the settlement surrounding it. The temple was built during the reign of Prithvi Narayan Shah, the unifier of modern Nepal and is located at Nuwakot in Bidur Municipality-2. 


President of Nuwakot Heritage Society, Pushkar Sharma Rimal, said that the settlement and the temple at Dharapani are at risk of landslide. 


It is said landslide risk has increased also because the hillside has been scraped more than necessary and no retaining wall has been contructed while upgrading the Bidur-Nuwakot-Chokade rural road. 


According to police, 14 houses in the settlements face immenent risk of landslide. These houses are being shifted to safe place.
