Madhyapur Thimi Municipality unveils its policy and programme

Bhaktapur –The Madhyapur Thimi Municipality has today made its policy and programme public declaring to celebrate the current fiscal year as the 'special year for budget implementation'. 


The municipality has brought special plan with the slogan of 'Our Art, Our Culture: Madhyapur Thimi Our Property', for the preservation of the local art and heritages. 


Speaking at a programme to unveil the policy and programme, Mayor Madan Sundar Shrestha said they would establish a living cultural museum at a set place by integrating art and culture. He added that the municipality would promote home stay service also. 


Similarly, the policy and programme mentions the formulation of an extensive integrated master plan of the city area and the construction of a water supply project, urban roads and sewerage network, reconstruction of the cultural and historical heritages and giving high priority to the preservation of cultural settlements. 


The municipality has allocated budget for the construction of multi-cultural and historical gates at five different locations in the municipality and also for building the municipality's administrative building and ward office buildings. All the structures would be disabled and child- friendly, it is stated. 


It is stated in the policy and programme that the municipality would operate a land pooling project for settlement development. The municipality will make the process of passing the land and house blue print simpler, less cumbersome, more systematic and transparent. It will enforce the digital building code from July 17 for that purpose. It will strictly enforce the policy of dismantling any structure within the municipality which has been constructed without taking the municipality's approval. 


According to the Municipality's administrative officer Kamal Gyawali, the municipality has envisaged to protect the public land, improve the water supply by installing 8-inch-diameter pipeline, managing the solid waste properly and cleaning the Manohara and Hanumante rivers and increase greenery in the city. 


There is also plan for reforming the revenue collection, making the Madhyapur Ujyalo (bright Madhyapur) programme more effective and installing close-circuit cameras at key places. Similarly, it is stated in the policy and programmes that one health post each would be constructed at every municipality ward, that the discriminatory education system would be ended by increasing accessibility and quality in education, making the scholarship effective and that sports would be promoted.
