Minister Tamang calls for amendment to Public Procurement Act

Kathmandu –Minister for Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Sher Bahadur Tamang has said that incumbent Public Procurement Act should be amended to make all state bodies responsible, transparent and accountable. 


At a programme organized by Nepal Law Commission in the capital city on Monday, Minister Tamang opined that timely amendment to the Procurement Act is needed after a study of the international laws on the subject concerned. 


Likewise, Secretary at the Public Procurement and Monitoring Office Madhu Prasad Regmi underscored the need of amendment to the Act in order to make the infrastructure development fast, transparent and effective. 
Likewise, Commission's Chairperson Madhav Poudel, however, said that fiscal year was to blame for poor implementation of the Act.
