Initiations started to conserve heritage site in Rupandehi

Rupandehi – Measures have been taken to protect and conserve a heritage site of archeological importance at Sainamaina Municipality-1 in the district.

A fence with barbed wires has been set up to guard relics like bricks, instruments, a deep-well dating back to the Buddha civilization found in the area during an excavation. A Sainamaina archeological museum has also been established.

Likewise, efforts are on to carry out an excavation in the other area and a mega master plan will be made for the conservation of the area, said Municipality's mayor Chitra Bahadur Karki.

It requires at least Rs 500 million towards that end, and the provincial government has been asked for required budget, he said.

A Sainamaina Historical Importance and Folk Culture Conservation Committee formed under the leadership of local social worker Jhapendra GC to conserve the site has been asked to prepare the report within one month. Culture expert and Prof Dr Gitu Giri is the Committee member.
