Reconstruction of all quake-damaged schools within two years: Minister Pokharel

Kathmandu – Minister for Education Girirajmani Pokharel has said that reconstruction of all schools damaged by Gorkha earthquake would be completed within next two years. 


At a programme organised by Durbar High School regarding reconstruction here today, Education Minister Pokharel said that now it would not take much time for the reconstruction of all quake damaged schools like Durbar School. 


He said, "Durbar High School has a long history. It should be different and attractive as compared to other schools. It is necessary to forward reconstruction task in this regard." 


The Education Minister also urged the Kathmandu Metropolitan City to pass the building sketch within a week after settling the dispute between KMC and Department of Archaeology over building sketch. 


Similarly, KMC Chief Administrative Officer Yadav Prasad Koirala said that the building sketch would be passed within a week for the construction of the school. 


Out of 7,500 schools damaged by Gorkha earthquake across the country, 3,600 schools have already been reconstructed so far, said Dilip Shresha of the National Reconstruction Authority. 
The school, covered on 10 ropanis of land, has 150 students.
