Two Tanahun villages lack electricity

Damauli, Tanahun – Approximately 84 households of two villages, Byas Municipality-14 and Bandipur Rural Municipality-6, are forced to live in the dark without electricity.

Every election, poll agenda dominates electricity, drinking water and roads. But they will get least or zero priority once election is over. "We were also promised electricity in the last elections, but only on paper.

The villages lack political access either, which is needed in general for electricity," said a local resident.
Those who can afford it have their houses fitted with solar panels, but others are depending on a kerosene lamp or candles, said local social worker Gum Bahadur Malla.

The villages lacking electricity are around 16 kilometers away from the district headquarters Damauli.
Chairperson of the Milijuli Masti Village Development Yam Bahadur Thapa said their repeated calls for electricity have fallen on deaf ears.

When asked, Vice Chairperson of Bandipur Rural Municipality, and Chairperson of Byas Municipality-14 Kali Man Shrestha said plan is afoot to illuminate the villages soon.
