NFC purchases 94,000 quintals less paddy

Kathmandu – Nepal Food Corporation (NFC) has purchased paddy below its targeted quantity for this year. 
Though the target was to purchase 276,000 quintals, only 181,336 quintals have been bought, departmental chief of the NFC Srimani Raj Khanal said. 


He said the purchase was less by 94 thousand quintals as the Corporation did not receive paddy from the farmers as much as expected. The NFC purchased paddy from farmers in Dhangadi, Rajapur, Mahendranagar, Nepalgunj, Lahan, Janakpur, Birgunj, Biratnagar and Birtamode. 


Khanal however said the NFC is still open to procuring more paddy if available. The NFC has set the price of paddy at Rs. 1,950 per quintal for the mota variety, Rs. 2000 per Madhya, Rs. 2,375 to 3,100 for masino sona, Rs. 2,525 to 3,200 per quintal for jeera masino variety.
