Hailstorm damages crops in Dang

Dang – Hailstorm that occurred on Sunday night in various parts of the district has destroyed crops worth millions of rupees.

Vegetable crops grown in the area from Lamahi of Deukhuri to Gadhawa and other regions have been damaged with near harvest off-seasonal green vegetables destroyed in Deukhuri.

"All vegetables have been destroyed in the hailstorm, without no option for meeting daily needs," vegetable farmer Kunti Chaudhary said.

It is the similar story in Buka area of Rampur. Meanwhile, with the damage caused to offseason vegetables, the price of green vegetables has already skyrocketed in Deukhuri from Monday. Its been twice expensive, local consumer Yamuna KC said.

Daily life has also been affected in the district as a result of the hailstorm coupled with heavy winds. Power supply has been disrupted in some areas after power cables were snapped. This has also affected the daily media.

However, farmers in the hilly region and west of Dang are happy over the rain with hails. The rain is reportedly very good for maize crop that is now being cultivated.
