New committee formed to conserve Itahari lakes

 

Itahari – A new working committee has been formed for the development and conservation of lakes in Itaharai-- a popular destination for picnic and boating for the domestic tourists in eastern Nepal. 


The fifth annual general meeting of the Lakes Development and Conservation Committee formed a new working committee under the chair of Bir Bahaadur Limbu, the committee shared at a news conference on Tuesday in Itahari. 


It is said that a large number of visitors throng the lakes in Sarswoti community forest and Shanti Nagari community forest which are spread over nearly 76 hectares of area. 


Besides picnic and gardens for children, the visitors in the area enjoy the natural beauties of seven lakes and wildlife animals. 
Likewise, a total of Rs 10 million plus money is being collected in revenue in the area from tourism.
