Two held with banned Indian currency notes

 

 

Kathmandu –The Metropolitan Police Range has arrested two people for possessing banned Indian currency notes of Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 denomination amounting to 4 million 931 thousand 500 rupees. 


A team from the Range took under control Sunil Dev Vaishya of Morang and Chet Bahadur Nepali of Nuwakot along with the banned currency notes from Lazimpat on Wednesday. 


The Range organised a press conference today to give out this information. Police confiscated 5,451 currency notes of Rs 500 denomination and 2,206 currency notes of Rs 1,000 denomination. 


Chief of the Range, Bishwa Raj Pokharel said that the two men cheated people and exchanged the money saying that the ban on these notes was going to be lifted after some time. He said they collected the money in big quantity at the border areas and brought that to Kathmandu.
